FA 110 Beginning Drawing Materials List

Sketch Book: Please get a quality sketch book. This needs to be a bound sketch book, not wire bound

but  bound as a normal book. Also, I will not accept loose pages or sketch books that fall

apart. Think of this as presentation of your work, how do you want it to be seen.

Drawing pad,  Not Newsprint, minimum size requirement on this is 18” by 24”

Assortment of Pencils, I recommend 4 pencils of varying hardness, or a set of  Derwent Pencils

Pencil Sharpener

Roll of Masking Tape

Mars Plastic Eraser, get the largest size possible

1 or 2 Artgum Erasers

1 Box of Vine Charcoal, get the medium hardness

1 Chamois Cloth

1 Can of Charcoal Fixative, this needs to be a workable fixative either matte or gloss,

an inexpensive substitute is Aquanet Hair spray, heavy hold

1 bottle of India Ink, you will also need something like a margarine container to dilute the ink in

1 round Bamboo brush, size #12 works fine, look at other sizes for other possibilities

An “Art Box”, some type tackle or tool box will work, this is so you will not lose or have your valuable material stolen.

Final assignments are required to be done on Archival papers, we will discuss this when we begin our first major assignment.

Make sure to purchase all listed materials as they are essential to completing the required assignments for this class.
