FA 320 – Beginning Painting

Project 4

Open assignment with slide portfolio:

The goal of this project is to explore basic skills for presenting your work and ideas, written and painted, for evaluation in terms of:

                        -juried exhibitions

                        -job applications

                        -graduate school applications

The images you choose to create is up to you.

Requirements for painted image:

 -2+ Paintings must be on stretched and gesso-primed canvas, minimum

                        of  18 x 24 inches, larger is fine.

            -Minimum of 3 pencil sketches exploring composition in your sketchbook

            -At least one monochromatic paint sketch on paper

Written requirement:

            -Minimum of 1 type written page, 12pt single space paragraph form,

                        statement about your work.

This is being handed out early so that you have enough time to ask questions and begin exploring. Your final painting will be critiqued in class during the final critique but not handed in. The written statement will be handed in and not returned, save copies of that material.
